With all its references and associations

It feels like it’s real

But is it real?

These objects have their own reality

How can these fictions be re-created?

And can these, sometimes opposing, fictions exist side by side?

These truths of our own world

These moments of power.

Melting together with reality.

In my world I create many fictions
The fictions I create are my own reality, they are a tool for my inner fantasies and a way to build my own world. In this research I was looking for how I create these and if other people experience the same kind of double realities: their own fictions.

Mostly I experience these fictions through objects, clothing and settings. It’s a form of escapism. It feels like a true story, but is it really the truth?

I use Fiction as a way to explain that because of the story you connect to an object, it becomes something more than that.
These Fictional stories are created because of the Historical and pop-cultural references and associations you have with the piece. They help you build your own world and you experience this as a reality. It changes how you feel for a moment, a day, or everyday.

I looked at how other people build their own world. How with clothing and their self created fictions you can experience different versions of yourself. And how these fictions form the way you experience reality. Reality fiction is a film genre, and I found it fitting that I use Film as a way to show you my research. In the film you see different people talking about how their clothing piece makes them feel. It shows how it influences their everyday reality because of these feelings, and how they experience their world because of it.
The interviews are real, their feelings are real too, but these feelings are based on a fictional story.

This is not the end of my research, I want to continue with this subject over the next half year and move it further towards clothing design. I will search for ways to bring these fictional realities into clothing. How can these fictions be re-created? And can these, sometimes opposing, fictions exist side by side?
